Passion For Horses
You never know when you are going to run across somebody truly special. Happens so rarely, and when it does it is usually quite unexpected. When Susan Eurto came into Meador Dodge to buy a vehicle for her niece, nothing really set her apart from any other valued Meador customer. We found them a Dodge Caliber, and her niece happily drove off of our lot in it. A couple of years later, when Susan came back to Meador for a second time, and purchased a 2009 Jeep Liberty, it was a pleasant surprise but honestly, we have built our business on satisfied, repeat customers, and so that was not all that uncommon either. But that was not the last we would hear from her…
About a month ago, we got an email from Susan. She wanted our help. She told us about an amazing organization she is involved with, called Passion Horse Rescue, and the work they were doing to help rescue, rehabilitate and find new homes for mistreated and neglected horses. The organization was founded 6 years ago, and is operated by Debra Naismith, in Joshua, Texas. As many of us know, the combination of drought, a continued struggling economy, and often just general neglect, and disregard for the well being of animals can lead to some unfortunate, even tragic circumstances for some of our hoofed friends. Many of these are draft horses, and once their “usefulness” has expired, owners simply lose interest in them. Whatever the case, there are many horses that are loving, high quality animals, with a lot of life left in them, that just don’t have a chance. That’s where Passion Horse Rescue comes in. They will step in whenever possible, and necessary, and take these animals in, nursing them back to health, retraining and re-acclimating them, preparing them for a new life.
The organization works with farriers, to care for and maintain the horse’s hooves, and even an equine dentist, known to our volunteers as “the tooth fairy.”
But there is so much more.
Passion Horse also works with the horses an average of 90 days, using a method called Holistic, or “Natural Horsemanship,” many of its tenets made famous by the movie, “The Horse Whisperer.” This is perhaps the most important part of what the organization does, because the primary goal is to make these animals adoptable, so that they can find happy homes, and bring joy to new owners for years to come. The organization has made all the difference in the world in the lives of over 250 horses, and many grateful owners. The efforts of Passion Horse are rewarding, but quite intensive work, and require a lot of resources.
But YOU can help!
Memorial Day Weekend-Sunday May 27th to be exact- the Passion Horse Ranch, with Meador Dodge, and TONS of other sponsors are organizing an exciting event called the Passion for Horses Expo, that is going to have a little bit of something for everybody!
- Horse demonstrations with the Vortex Vaulters
- Live Music with Chameleon, and Tim Cooper and the Midnight Ride,
- Games and a bouncy house for the kids, face painting, arts, crafts.
- An appearance by the beautiful horses of the Fort Worth Mounted Patrol.
- Meador Dodge will have refreshments for guests, and a gift basket featuring some Meador swag, for the auction.

What more could you ask for!?
Meador is proud to be a sponsor of this tremendous event, and to know that one of our vehicles has been used by a member of this worthwhile organization. This will be an amazing day, and a chance for everyone to come out, have a great time and learn more about these majestic creatures, and the heroic work that the Passion Horse Ranch is doing and will continue to do, and how you can get involved.
Even if you want to just come out for some entertainment, a great time for adults and kids alike, and a chance to win some great prizes, you’ll be glad you did!
